GRAC PBC Map of Wellesley Islands Sea Determination NOTICE OF LARDIL, YANGKAAL, GANGALIDDA AND KAIADILT PEOPLES COMMUNITY MEETING Gununa GULF REGION ABORIGINAL CORPORATION RNTBC town ICN-7139 Information to be presented A community meeting has been called in accordance with rule 14 of the Constitution of the Gulf Region Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC. These meetings will provide information to native title holders regarding a proposed variation of the Lardil Peoples v State of Queensland [2004] FCA 298 (Wellesley Islands Sea Determination) to allow for native title holders to take resources for any purpose within the determination area. Currently, the native title holders may only take resources for personal, domestic or non-commercial consumption. Three information sessions will be held in Cairns (Gimuy), Burketown (Mungabai) and Mornington Island (Gunana) to maximise the opportunity for attendance of native title holders. The time, date and location of each meeting is set out below: Date Tuesday 24 March 2026 Location Cairns Time 9:00am- 11:00am Wednesday 25 March Burketown 10:00am - 2026 Thursday 26 March 2026 Mornington Island 12:00pm 10:00am - 12:00pm Venue The Bolands Centre 14 Spence Street Burke Shire Nijinda Durlga 65 Musgrave Street PCYC Multipurpose Hall Gununa This is not a decision-making meeting. A separate native title holder authorisation meeting will be held on Mornington Island, the afternoon of Thursday, 26 March. Who should attend this meeting? Lardil, Yangkaal, Kaiadilt and Gangalidda native title holders determined to hold native title rights in the Wellesley Islands Sea Determination. Who will be presenting? David Knobel of P&E Law, Louise Kruger of Counsel Expenses and travel No expenses incurred will be covered by the Corporation. CLCAC will provide a bus to transport native title holders between Doomadgee and Burketown.
